Hihellohi.
Things are busy and fun.
I finally got around to properly doing my favourite project. It’s a collection interviews with very interesting people who do very interesting things, including Robert Mugabe’s ex-best friend, Wilf Mbanga, Carl Craig, 3D from Massive Attack, a load of graffiti artists including Invader, EINE and Evol, the people who put on the best parties in the world, and a global review of tiny bars you should go drink in. It was a janky old wordpress site, but I have a thing for drop down menus, so I made it a proper website. It’s called Strokeface and you can see it here. If I could do this as a full-time job, I would be very happy indeed.
Pavement Licker 7 is all done and we’re starting to do Number 8 – please send us your words or pictures if you’ve got words or pictures to send. I also edited the first O2 Academy Magazine last year, which they ran off 275,000 copies of and distributed it around the country. Because of the success of that project, O2 Academy TV asked me to be in charge of artist partnerships for them. So I’ve been doing that for the last six months – arranging interviews and fancams and all sorts with the bands that play at the O2 Academy Venues. In the time I’ve been there, the channel views have risen from 800,000 to 4,000,000.
I’m still UK editor of the wonderful ‘SUP Magazine – Issue 25 is being cooked right now and it’s looking to be a belter. I’m also still editing Pictures Of Walls – go and have a look at it and waste a bunch of hours looking at the best things people have scrawled on walls around the world. And I’m still Features Editor for le cool London – the alternative London preview online magazine that gets sent to about 45,000 people each week.
Last year I started a new ‘zine called Letters To The Doctor. It’s a series of surreal things I have (mainly drunkenly) written to my friend who’s a doctor. It’s influenced a bit by the ’90s zine Army Man from the USA. Buy a copy here and I’ll send it to you. IT got a great response and people seem to think it’s very funny. Issue 2 is virtually done and has gone way darker.
There are a couple more exciting things coming up and I’ll post them when they’re back from the printers.
